A Brush With Greatness

So this week has been full of excitement. Yesterday I went to a lecture by Dr. James Watson. You know, of 'Watson & Crick' fame, the 2 guys who figured out the structure of DNA? And the best part is that I got to meet and talk with him. What a character! At 78 he is vibrant, eccentric, and funny. He presented his philosophy on life and how he and Francis Crick made the DNA discovery. Wearing a dark green jacket and a cadmium blue tie, white wispy hair sticking out, he began his talk by saying "avoid boring people" and "avoid boring other people". It was fascinating to hear him recall the events in his life leading up to the discovery. You can learn more about this important biological work here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aso/databank/entries/do53dn.html
