Notes from the Studio

I'm lucky to be married to a musician. Music fills our lives - and my art studio while I paint. So where on earth did I find the music of Giuditta Scorcelletti? Fortuitously, it was playing in a gallery we visited in the Tuscan hill town of San Gimignano. Now you know.

My husband, Simo is a professional accordionist, who is now finding his voice in painting. Simo has been my studio assistant and art business manager for more than a decade. He just completed his first series of seascapes in oil. Ok, I may be a little bit biased, but they're stunning! In February, we'll both have our paintings at the Trinity School's Spotlight on Art Artist's Market in Atlanta, Georgia. We hope to see you there!

My Babies are In Oklahoma!

Silly to say, but each of my paintings is like a child to me - I create it and give birth to it, and then send it out into the world in hopes that it will make a difference in the lives of others. I believe that art heals - it connects something on the inside of all of us. Like architecture and interior design, the artwork that we have around us can significantly influence the way we feel on a day to day basis. Research into the design of hospitals and the effect of the environment on patients and staff demonstrates that our surroundings have a clear impact on the effectiveness with which treatment and care is both delivered and received. A grouping of my "Outside of the Box" paintings are now part of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital's collection in Oklahoma City. If they give even one person a moment of calm and quietude, I am grateful.

Save the Date for ArtXtravaganza!!!!

For the past 2 years I've shown my work at the Webb School of Knoxville's fine art show. Well, the big news this year is that they have invited me to be the featured artist!!! What an honor! One of my paintings, "Reflections", mixed media on 36"x24" canvas, will be auctioned. This is a first-class event with a wide variety of art - and a percentage of the sales goes directly to support the Webb School (this means you get a tax write-off with every art purchase:). Please mark your calendars now to save the date. I'm working hard in my studio to create some exciting new pieces to share with you!
